The Access-A-Mop was designed to help those in wheelchairs perform daily chores without cumbersome handles knocking you in the shoulder while the floor is mopped or swept. It is also ideal for those people who are less than four and a half foot, where longer handles are awkward to use.
Then mop maneuvers close to a wheelchair without being cumbersome. The wrist strap prevents the handle from being dropped while the cushion hand grip aids in grasping the handle. Attach brooms, brushes or our car wash pad to the standard threaded handle. Sweep your garage, kitchen floor or wash your car.
How to Use the Access-A-Mop
Extension Handle: DO NOT OVER EXTEND THE HANDLE. Always be sure 2-3 inches of the handle is inside the outer pole. To raise and lower the handle, flip the lever up to extend down to lock in place.
To mop: Adjust the handle so it is comfortable for your height. You may want the extension to be just above your elbow if you are in a wheelchair or at head height if you are short in stature.
Attach the wrist strap around your wrist after dampening a terry towel. You may want to dampen two towels to prevent the need of rinsing out the towels. It's fast and easy just to switch towels and my favorite way to mop floors.
Floors: Rinse a hand size towel under the faucet. Use heavy weight terry cloth towels for floors. You need sufficiently long threads so the hook fasteners grasp tightly. Automotive towels with the nubby type ends do an excellent job scrubbing and are lighter weight. Wring out excess moisture. If cleaning a large floor area two towels speeds cleaning. Place the towel over the mop head then press it down. As you lower the mop to the floor, pull the handle back just a bit so the towel swings under the mop head.
Use very little pressure to clean. When one side becomes soiled, raise the mop to the ceiling, flip the mop over to continue. Remove the towel to launder.
Turn the mop on end to clean narrow areas like behind the toilet
Should the towel pull off during cleaning, use less pressure on the mop
For sticky spots on the floor, spray those first with an all purpose cleaner.
Cobwebs: dampen a lightweight towel, place over the mop head and whisk away the webs. Extend the handle first.
Walls: Rinse towel in a solution with CleanEz place over the mop head to quickly clean walls or ceilings.
Windows: Dust cobwebs first using a lightly dampened terry towel. Dampen our microfiber towel with water and place over the mop head. Clean the window with one side and dry with the other. This works quite well for bathroom mirrors as well.
Bathtubs: I strongly recommend switching to liquid soap to prevent soap residue buildup. Removing soap scum is difficult so eliminating the problem can save hours of cleaning and frustration. Fill the sink with a strong solution of Bio Ox. If you can reach all the walls of the shower by spraying them from a bottle, that is fine. Otherwise dampen the towel in the Bio Ox solution and place it over the mop head. The towel will hold onto the mop head more firmly if you clothespin it just under the head. Otherwise the towel falls tends to fall off when you are cleaning the sides of the tub.
